Aim. The aim of the research was to identify the most informative predictors of severe perinatal cerebral ischemia in newborns.
Methods. There were studied the markers of oxidant-antioxidant status (OAS) and the level of MMP-9 in amniotic fluid and cord blood of women with term delivery. The sample consisted of 58 women and their newborns after term delivery. The sample was
retrospectively divided into two groups, taking into account the presence or absence of the cerebral ishemic injury in newborns.
Results. The study showed that malondialdehyde and MMP-9 possess a high prognostic efficacy by perinatal hypoxic CNS injuries in full-term newborns.
Conclusion. MMP-9 and malondialdehyde can be used in clinical practice as a specific, minimaly invasive markers of CNS injury in newbors.
Whats new? New markers of perinatal CNS injury - malondialdehyde and MMP-9 were obtained.
